Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data The Finance Link (“we”) collects when you use thefinancelink.com, why, and your choices. We are the controller of this data. Contact: hello@thefinancelink.com.
What we collect
- Account — name, email address and password (stored only as a secure hash); if you sign in with Google, your Google account ID and email.
- Profile — year of birth, career status, the sector you work in and your seniority, or your university and graduation year; the sectors, areas and cities you are interested in.
- Alerts — your alert filters and a log of the alerts we sent you.
- Applications tracker — the roles, notes and dates you add.
- CV review — the CV file you upload, the role you target, your message and our written feedback.
- Payments — handled by Paddle (see below). We receive your plan, subscription status and country, never your card details.
- Messages — emails you send us.
Why we use it
- To provide the service you signed up for: your account, job board, alerts, tracker, CV review and plan (contract).
- To keep the site secure, fix problems and understand, in aggregate, how it is used (legitimate interests).
- To send the daily alert, which you can switch off at any time (your choice in account settings).
- To keep payment records where the law requires it (legal obligation).
We don’t sell your data, show ads or use it for profiling. CVs are read only by people on our team — never by AI.
Who we share it with
- Hosting and email providers that run our servers and send our emails, under contract and only to provide those services.
- Google, only if you choose to sign in with Google.
- Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record, when you buy a plan. Paddle processes your payment under its own privacy policy.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
Cookies and analytics
We use only cookies needed for the site to work, so there is no cookie banner:

For visit statistics we use Umami, hosted on our own server. It sets no cookies and records pages viewed, referring site, browser, device type and country in aggregate; it does not identify you and is not shared with anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is open. When you delete your account, your profile, alerts, tracker, CV files and feedback are removed from our systems straight away. Paddle keeps payment records for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing hello@thefinancelink.com. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk) or your local data protection authority.
Children
The Finance Link is not meant for anyone under 16.
Changes
If we change this policy in a significant way, we will tell you by email or on the site.
